    Description: Ridgewood Ranch is a 5,000-acre, agriculture-focused, working ranch property with significant residential, tourism, and non-profit acitivities. The ranch is owned and operated by The Golden Rule Association, an inclusive spiritual community co-creating a living demonstration of abundance, resilience, and understanding love towards ourselves, each other, and all that surrounds us. GRA is a Religious Non-Profit whose purpose is to live and work in service to each other, the land, and our surrounding communities as we strive to express the Golden Rule in action.

    The Groundskeeper maintains safe, clean, and visually appealing outdoor properties, including lawns, gardens, brush, trees, and hardscapes for a large ranch with residential, commercial, and rough ranch zones. Physically demanding work includes power tool use, as well as hand tool work. Position also requires responsible oversight of drip irrigation, maintenance of tools and equipment, while relying on sound planning and judgement for work on managing priorities on busy, large scale ranch and often in complex terrain in outdoor environment, in both hot and rainy weather.

    Key Responsibilities: 

    • Routine Property Upkeep: Mowing; Weed-whacking; Trim hedges, shrubs, and trees; Rake and remove debris; Blackberry and Poison Oak removal; Gutter cleaning.

    • Plant & Landscape Care: Maintain lawn, flowers, trees, and shrubs; flame weeding, pest control and fertilizer application; prune trees; and maintain woodchip and rock mulch.

    • Facility Maintenance: Perform leaf removal, pressure washing sidewalks and buildings, gutter cleaning, and minor exterior/hardscape repairs.

    • Landscaping and Hardscaping Installation: Establish new plantings. Installation of concrete, paver, D.G., and flagstone sidewalks and patios. Building small fences and retaining walls.

    • Road work: Maintenance and improvement of gravel and asphalt road and parking lots, and water runoff ditches

    • Safety & Inspection: Check grounds for safety hazards, report major structural or tree-health issues, and log keeping maintenance application

    • Communication and Record Keeping - Frequent communication with managers and related departments. Create and maintain systems for tracking work and expenses

    Qualifications & Skills:

    • Experience: 1–3 years of experience in landscaping, groundskeeping, or facility maintenance preferred.

    • Technical & Tool Skills: Proficiency with traditional power tools (mowers, blowers, trimmers, chainsaws). Familiarity with irrigation controllers.

    • Ability to read and create landscape plans. Proficiency with smart phones and computers.

    • Experience driving large vehicles and equipment

    • Certifications & Licenses: Valid driver’s license (reliable transport to properties)

    • Physical Requirements: Ability to work outdoors year-round in variable weather, lift heavy materials (50+ lbs), bend, kneel, and walk on uneven terrain for extended shifts.

    Compensation, Benefits & Opportunities:

    • $22/hour for 40 hours/week

    • 1 hour of PTO for every 20 hours worked

    • Potential after a few months for affordable housing rental on the Ranch.

    • Employee discount at our Farm Stand (fruit & vegetables, USDA frozen beef & lamb, fresh eggs, etc.)

    Ideally this person would be interested in the community aspect of the ranch, with an intention of learning more about the Golden Rule Association and the values we strive to live by.
